Paramount Theatre
The Paramount Theatre, located in downtown Abilene is one of the most prestigious venues in West Texas. The beautiful historic theatre was built by the National Register of Historic Places in 1930. The theatre is home to many performances, including concerts, films, musicals, and private parties.
The Paramount opened in 1927 as a popular cinema with a gilded stage that could accommodate 1500 people. The interior was decorated in an Atmospheric Style with a Spanish/Moorish Courtyard theme and twinkling star ceiling.
Many people believe that the Paramount still has some ghosts haunting the building. It could be portraits that hung inside the theatre. It includes a replica Abilene’s Paramount Theatre as well as a soundwall, Texas tornadoes, a lifesize Operation game, an Abilene Paramount Theatre replica, and a gallery for local artists. The gallery hosts science weekends and other events.

Frontier Texas!
Frontier Texas, a world-class interactive museum that brings to life the Old West, is one of Abilene’s most popular attractions. The fort-style attraction is the official visitor centre for Abilene, Texas Forts Trail and surrounding areas. There is also a gift store at the attraction.
Six sections are included in the exhibits. The exhibits are divided into six sections: “A Wild Land,” Comanche Empire; Buffalo Hide Trade; Military on the Frontier; Cowboys and Longhorns and Frontier Settlements. Each section contains detailed historical information as well as amazing artifacts. The interactive holograms are what really makes this museum stand out. Holograms of real characters from western history are featured. Listen to their stories for as long or as short as you like. It is fascinating to see the differences in personalities between these characters.
The museum also has a collection historic firearms. This is a wonderful way to understand the West’s culture and why there were so much conflict between cultures.
