Canton is famous for its Pro Football Hall of Fame, but it also has a lot to offer for non-football fans. For example, the Greater Canton Amateur Sports Hall of Fame honors amateur athletes who went on to become professional athletes.

Blue Water Majesty Museum displays amazing model ships, all hand-carved by master woodcarver Larry Pulka. The models are exact replicas of 18th-century ships with authentic rigging and deck nails.

Canton Classic Car Museum

Located in a 1914 Ford dealership, the Canton Classic Car Museum is more than cars. Car lovers will find plenty of rare and special interest automobiles to delight them, including the 1937 Studebaker President bullet proof police car (once said to have protected officers from bank robbers and dive-bombing pigeons).

The history buffs in your family can stroll through the Street of Shops, a life size replica of a historic town. Here you’ll find a gas station, barber shop, blacksmith shop, a corner store and even a train station with a vintage Kilgen Organ.

Kids of all ages will want to visit the 1918 Holmes Automotive Company newspaper ad touting a drive from Canton to New York averaging 13 miles per gallon! Stunning model trains are also displayed in the building.

Canton Brewing Company

The Canton Brewing Company features a large selection of beers, including seasonal specials. Customers can bring their own growlers to fill, and the brewing company sells glassware and mugs designed to fully showcase each beer’s unique flavor.

Owners Bikis and Adriana were inspired by pub culture while living in London. They loved the idea that a pub could be more than just a bar where people gather for drinks on the weekends.

In addition to serving a variety of beers, the brewery also offers food. Reuben sandwiches, pepperoni pizza and scotch eggs are available. Customers like the cosy atmosphere of this place. They appreciate the fast service and reasonable prices of this location.

Taggart’s Ice Cream

When it comes to ice cream, Taggart’s is like no other in the North Canton OH area. This old-fashioned shop has a textured terrazzo floor, cream-colored walls and green vinyl chairs. The menu includes 15 regular and 11 seasonal flavors that are made on-site twice a week. It also features homemade soups, salads and sandwiches. In addition, there’s a model train layout that kids love to play with.

Ernie Schott and his family bought the shop in 1998. They’ve kept the traditions that were started in 1926, including the original marble counter tops that have withstood countless elbows. Nostalgia plays a big role in keeping customers coming back, but the real reason to visit is for the food. Their signature dish is The Bittner – vanilla ice cream smothered in chocolate sauce and sprinkled with roasted pecans.

Canton Palace Theater

The Canton Palace Theater opened on November 22, 1926. At the time it was billed as the country’s most expensive theater. It was a gift from local industrialist Harry Harper Ink, who made his fortune with Tonsiline cough syrup sold in unique giraffe-shaped bottles.

Today, the theatre is a popular venue for concerts, weddings and even funerals. It is also home to the Canton Ballet and Movies at the Palace.

The museum features both permanent collections and national touring exhibits. Its collections showcase the work of artists from all over the United States, with an emphasis on Ohio art. There are roughly 12 special exhibits each year. There are also educational programs for students from preschool to adulthood. This is a must-see for any culture lover!
